Aillwee Burren Experience is marking 50 years since opening in 1976 with celebrations throughout 2026. The family run site in North County Clare has welcomed over seven million visitors and employed three thousand colleagues over three generations. Developments include guided cave tours Birds of Prey Centre Burren Gold Cheese production and biodiversity walks.

The cave tour covers eight hundred and fifty metres through Aillwee Mountain with 90 metres of limestone overhead at deepest point and hosts events from concerts to yoga sessions. The Birds of Prey Centre opened in 2008 features native and non native raptors with flying displays and falconry walks recognised by UNESCO. Burren Gold Gouda cheese uses milk from local herds and holds GEOfood status within the UNESCO Burren and Cliffs of Moher Global Geopark.

Upgrades between 2021 and 2022 followed the Covid period with relighting and revamps to cave tours raptor centre cheese story and woodland walk. The site supports year round employment for 30 full time staff rising to 45 to 50 from March to November and eighty during Santa’s Workshop. Aillwee participates in local tourism networks including the Burren Ecotourism Network and Clare Tourism Advisory Forum.
