Wizz Air launches new routes from new Turin base

Wizz Air has announced a new base at Turin Caselle Airport in northern Italy. The first based aircraft has begun operating from the city on 14 September 2026 with a second aircraft to follow on 25 October 2026. The base has facilitated the launch of seven new routes including three domestic services to Rome Fiumicino, Naples Capodichino and Palermo International.

The ultra-low-cost carrier has planned additional routes that have served Spanish and Italian destinations. Turin has been dominated by rival Ryanair which has held a 56.2pc market share by scheduled weekly departure capacity. Wizz Air has continued to expand its presence in Western Europe with this development.

The new base has marked the seventh operational base for Wizz Air in Italy and the fortieth in Europe. The airline has projected a million travellers through the base with the creation of direct and induced jobs. Services have rolled out progressively through December 2026.

The low cost carrier continues to expand its network within Europe. The new connections aim to boost travel options between Spain and Italy.
