Tianguis Turístico México opens its 50th edition in Acapulco

Tianguis Turístico México has opened its 50th edition in Acapulco this week. The event has brought together more than 8,000 participants and over 1,300 exhibiting companies at Expo Mundo Imperial. Organisers have scheduled nearly 58,998 business meetings, which represent a 40pc increase from the previous edition.

The fair has marked the first time international exhibitors have participated alongside all 32 Mexican states. Colombia has served as the Guest Country of Honour while pavilions from Belize, Costa Rica, Cuba, El Salvador, Honduras, Japan and Nicaragua have also featured. New elements have included a dedicated community tourism pavilion, a retail area for direct sales of tour packages to the public, and a technology zone focused on tourism innovation.

Mexico has presented a pipeline of 773 tourism investment projects worth $42bn through to 2030. Officials have announced infrastructure developments for Acapulco, including a new cruise terminal and the launch of the Maribús water transport system. The event has run from 27 to 30 April 2026 under the theme of Acapulco standing strong, with over 86pc of the city’s hotel capacity now recovered.

Josefina Rodríguez Zamora shared “This edition represents a platform for shared prosperity and a key instrument for strengthening the country’s global tourism positioning. Acapulco has recovered more than 86pc of its hotel capacity.”
