Lisbon Airport handled 17.4m passengers during the first six months (January to June) of 2026, representing a 1.3pc year-on-year increase, according to official reports from Statistics Portugal. The airport continues to dominate national air traffic, accounting for 49.4pc of all airport passenger movements in Portugal. In the first quarter of 2026, Lisbon Airport handled 7.9m passengers, growing 3.1pc compared to the same period in 2025, making up 54.2pc of the country’s total first-quarter traffic.
Over the month of June 2026, daily operations across Portuguese airports remained high, with an average of 118,700 passengers disembarking daily. The recent data follows a record-breaking year in 2025, where Lisbon Airport achieved an all-time annual high of 36.1m passengers, a 2.9pc rise from 2024. England, Spain, France, Germany and Brazil represent the leading international flight origins and destinations for traffic moving through Portuguese airports.The airport’s dominance of national air traffic remains significant, with almost half of all passenger movements in Portugal occurring at Lisbon. The 1.3pc increase in the first half of 2026 indicates sustained demand despite broader European challenges.
