  • Six Irish restaurants have been added to the Michelin Guide.
  • The new venues are in Dublin, Wexford, Wicklow, and Galway.
  • Inclusion does not constitute a Michelin Star award.
  • Inspectors praised the cuisine, produce, and unique settings.
  • The total number of Irish venues in the guide now stands at 137.

The Michelin Guide has added six Irish restaurants to its selection, bringing the total number of recommended venues in the country to 137 . The new additions include Mongoose, Díon, and China Hunan in Dublin, alongside Bearú in New Ross, Grain Store at Killruddery in County Wicklow, and The Universal in County Galway . This inclusion represents a significant industry accolade, although it does not equate to the award of a Michelin Star or Bib Gourmand .

Inspectors have praised the establishments for their culinary offerings and overall dining experiences. Díon in Dublin city received commendation for its 360-degree city views and “retro-futurist feel,” while Bearú in New Ross was noted for its “unfussy” dishes made with “superb quality” ingredients . The inspectors highlighted the homemade pastas and whole wood-roasted chicken at Mongoose as top selections from its seasonal menu, and described the Ranelagh hotspot China Hunan as a place of “understated glamour” featuring dark patterned tiles and Connemara marble detailing .

The recognition has added to the reputation of Ireland’s dining scene, with the new inclusions coming from a diverse range of settings, including a converted barn on the 800-acre Killruddery House estate and a Galway venue showcasing the best of the Irish larder . The Michelin Guide, originally established in 1900 to encourage road travel, has evolved into one of the most respected authorities on fine dining globally, and its inspectors have confirmed that these latest additions demonstrate the breadth of quality dining available across Ireland .

The Michelin Guide inspectors shared: The new additions to the Irish selection demonstrate the impressive range of cuisines and high-quality produce available across the country.
