Vilnius has been growing rapidly while retaining its human scale. The Baltic capital has emerged as a hub for technology companies with six homegrown unicorns including Vinted and Nord Security. The city has a population of just over 600,000. The average gross monthly salary increased almost three times in the past decade.

Vilnius has ranked as the second-greenest city in the world in the 2026 HUGSI index with 61pc green cover. The city has 177 km of cycling paths and more than 300 low-emission buses. Vilnius has combined a growing economy with short distances and a high quality of life.

Lithuania’s capital has unveiled “Vilnius: Never Ordinary” as a new international positioning. The positioning has built around competing with Europe’s biggest cities not on size but on ease. The city has aimed to attract businesses and residents through its approach to work and life balance.
