The European Regions Airline Association has unveiled its Annual Pulse 2026 report at its General Assembly in Belfast. The analysis has shown that 440 of Europe’s busiest routes account for 25pc of total capacity while the same share is spread across approximately 5,700 lower passenger volume routes. Almost four in five routes offering fewer than 50,000 seats a year have been served by a single airline.

The report has set out ERAA’s priorities for a policy framework recognising the diversity of Europe’s aviation network. The framework has aimed to protect regional connectivity, support competitiveness and enable investment in decarbonisation. The General Assembly has taken place at ICC Belfast from 6 to 8 October 2026.

Montserrat Barriga, Director General of ERAA, shared “Europe’s connectivity depends on far more than just the busiest routes but on thousands of regional air services that provide essential links for communities, businesses and public services across the continent, often in markets where there are few or no alternatives.”

The ERAA represents 58 regional airlines and more than 150 companies involved in European aviation. The association has promoted the interests of regional aviation by ensuring safe, efficient and sustainable air transport that connects Europe’s regions and communities.
