The new Tesco Travel Money Card was launched on 22 September. Customers can top up their card through the app at any point during their trip and continue to access Clubcard rates while abroad. The flexibility the prepaid card offers can prove particularly useful when holiday budgets do not quite go to plan. Three in 10 consumers now use ATMs abroad, with more than one in five of these finding themselves withdrawing cash because they have run out on holiday. The Tesco Travel Money Card charges no ATM withdrawal fees, and its in-app top up feature means customers who are running low on currency can rest assured wherever they are. The prepaid card also has no additional spend fees and is not linked to customers’ home bank accounts, debit cards or credit cards, offering added security and peace of mind when spending overseas.

Rather than replacing cash altogether, the new card is designed to give holidaymakers more choice in how they manage their money abroad, supporting a hybrid wallet approach that ensures they have the currency they need in the format they want. The new card forms part of Tesco’s wider Travel Money offering. The Tesco Travel Money Card is now available online and in all Tesco Travel Money bureaux.

Ban Mahsoub shared “Everyone manages their holiday spending differently, and we want to give our customers the flexibility to choose what works best for them. Cash remains an important part of spending abroad, but having a prepaid card alongside it gives customers another option while they’re away. Whether plans change, spending goes a little further than expected or you simply need access to another currency, customers can easily top up through the app and continue to access Clubcard rates while abroad.”
