Naples Capodichino Airport will close completely from 1 November to 30 November 2026 for a full runway and taxiway rehabilitation project. The closure involves a comprehensive overhaul of the main runway and connected taxiways by operator GESAC and civil aviation authority ENAC. The timing was postponed from an earlier January to March window to November historically the lowest air traffic month to minimise passenger disruption.

All commercial arrivals and departures are suspended for the month. The closure cost is approximately €19.4m to €20m. Some airlines including easyJet, Vueling, Iberia, flydubai, Eurowings and ITA Airways are shifting or redirecting select services to Salerno Costa d’Amalfi Airport. Lufthansa Group and other carriers are rerouting passengers through Rome Fiumicino.

Hotel bookings for November are already down by more than 40pc with average occupancy expected to reach only around 40pc outside the All Saints weekend. International visitors are expected to be hardest hit. Tourism operators have called for a coordinated transport plan to limit disruption.
