The Lufthansa AirRail Terminal at Frankfurt Airport has closed permanently on 26 October 2026. Passengers must now check in baggage at the regular terminals using self-service machines or counters depending on travel class. Bags will be collected in the normal Terminal 1 arrivals area after landing.

Lufthansa Express Rail passengers can no longer drop off or check in baggage at the AirRail Terminal near the long-distance train station. All checked bags must now be handled at Terminal 1 check-in counters or kiosks. Inbound baggage after a rail-and-air connection is now collected at standard Terminal 1 baggage reclaim carousels rather than the railway baggage claim.

The underlying Lufthansa Express Rail product and its connection guarantee remain active. Passengers travelling with carry-on luggage and a mobile boarding pass experience no changes to their routine. The closure simplifies terminal operations.
