Tourism Ireland is presenting a €1bn programme of investment in tourism infrastructure, transport links and attractions across the island of Ireland at WTM London. The programme is funded through the Irish Government’s Shared Island Initiative. The investment includes €190m for rail infrastructure upgrades on the Dublin to Belfast to Derry corridor and €700m for new Enterprise trains.
The programme supports restoration of the Ulster Canal and the proposed Narrow Water Bridge. It extends the Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands brand into County Fermanagh in the six counties, incorporating Lough Erne, the Cuilcagh Lakelands UNESCO Global Geopark and Marble Arch Caves, through an agreement between TourismNI and Fáilte Ireland.
Around 75 tourism companies from across the island of Ireland are participating alongside Tourism Ireland at ExCeL London. Overseas visitor numbers rose 9pc and spending rose 11pc in the first 9 months of 2026.
