Pre-tax losses at county Kildare’s Carton House up by 36pc despite revenue rise

Pre-tax losses at Carton House resort in Co Kildare increased by 36pc to €3.47m in 2024 despite revenues rising 8pc to €22.78m.

Operating losses grew by 55pc from €1.66m to €2.58m, including non-cash depreciation of €2.2m and interest charges of €884,833. The resort employed 295 staff in 2024, down from 308, with staff costs up 8pc to €10.97m.

Hosting the 2024 KPMG Women’s Irish Open drew nearly 40,000 spectators and generated €7m in direct spending across sectors. Owners invested €1.69m in tangible assets, bringing fixed assets to €69.37m book value, with cash funds at €2.96m.

A note attached to the accounts shared the owners are committed to maintain significant investment and support to this valuable asset and business over the coming years, by funding working capital, interest commitments and debt repayments as required.
