Air Canada and its pilots say they have agreed most points in contract negotiations but not the union’s wage demands, with a potential strike or lockout notice possible as early as Sunday September 15.
The airline is preparing a contingency plan to gradually suspend flights over three days if a notice is issued.
While a tentative agreement has been made on many negotiating points, wages continue to be a major contention.
Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge operate about 670 daily flights, carrying over 110,000 passengers, with a complete operational shutdown leading to a recovery time of 7 to 10 days for normal flights to resume.
