Air China launches first C919 revenue service

Air China has launched its first C919 aircraft into revenue service, operating daily flights between Beijing Capital and Shanghai Hongqiao, as well as Beijing and Hangzhou.

The aircraft, designated B-919X, is powered by CFM International LEAP engines, is less than a year old, and is the first of 105 C919s ordered by the airline.

B-919X began scheduled flights on September 10, 2024, following a series of test flights, and has a capacity of up to 158 passengers in its extended-range variant.

In addition to the C919s, Air China operates twenty-nine ARJ21-700 aircraft, with three currently inactive, as part of its fleet composed of various aircraft types.
