- Meta’s Muse sells flights using a contracted API route.
- United’s standby feature allows passengers to join standby for earlier flights.
- FAA’s SMART predictive flow management is in a 90-day trial.
- Trust is a challenge for predictive flow management.
The October Airline-Tech Innovation Radar has examined three launches that hand waiting to software. Meta’s Muse is the first Big Tech personal agent that sells flights. It chose a contracted API route over browser automation showing how airline content may reach AI agents.
United’s standby feature allows a disrupted passenger to join standby for up to three earlier flights while keeping a confirmed seat. United’s app does the watching and sends a text when a seat opens. The FAA’s SMART predictive flow management is being tested on live US traffic in a 90-day trial.
The radar notes that trust is as much a challenge as technology for predictive flow management. The three launches aim to reduce waiting in travel.
