A group of major French tourism companies including Accor, Air France and SNCF Voyageurs has set out a long-term strategy aiming to raise international visitor spending to €100bn by 2030. France welcomed a record 102m visitors last year generating €77.5bn in receipts. The plan focuses on value rather than volume through longer stays and higher average spend per visitor.
The Alliance France Tourisme strategy aims to generate an extra €22.5bn in international tourism revenue. The plan shifts focus away from chasing higher numbers of total visitors. It emphasises encouraging tourists to stay longer rather than packing in short high-density trips.
The strategy aims to combat peak-season overcrowding and promote regional year-round travel across France. It targets high value-added services, luxury experiences, business tourism and infrastructure upgrades. The AFT recommends creating a single window under regional prefects to guarantee a maximum two-year processing time for major tourism projects.
