Aviation stocks tumble amid rising fuel costs

Travel and aviation stocks have plummeted as the Middle East conflict drove oil prices higher and disrupted global routes.

Shares in TUI dropped 8.5 pc, Lufthansa 6.5 pc, and IAG 4.8 pc on Monday. Hotel group Accor and cruise operator Carnival also declined sharply.

Experts warned of soaring fuel and energy costs, with motor fuel potentially rising by 70 cents per litre. The unrest marked the sector’s gravest crisis since the pandemic.
