Bali has implemented a tourist tax of €8.90 (IDR 150,000) which it says is to protect its culture and environment from the increasing number of visitors.

The tax applies to international tourists and can be paid online before or during the visit.

Bali received nearly 4.8m tourists between January and November of the previous year.

The generated revenue from the tax will be used for the government’s Love Bali initiative, promoting sustainable tourism on the island.

A one-time payment per visit is required for both adults and children entering Bali, which can be conveniently settled through the Love Bali website or App before arrival.

Upon payment, a tourism levy voucher with a QR code is emailed to visitors for scanning at checkpoints in Bali Airport and seaports.

Bank counters are available at Bali International Airport for offline payments, with cashless transactions required. Certain visa categories, such as diplomatic, official, and specific non-tourist visas, are exempt from this fee if applications are submitted five days before arrival.
