Fears have emerged that Sceilg Mhichíl will not be able to open for visitors this season due to delays in permit issuance by the Office of Public Works (OPW).

The OPW typically grants landing permits to 15 boat operators, and total visitor capacity is set at 180 individuals each day, with sea conditions impacting accessibility.

James Murphy from the Skellig Coast Tourism Network shared, “The Skellig Rock is our lifeblood. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage site and any delay affects us massively.”
