Belfast City Airport’s fire service welcomed three new recruits through its ‘High Flyers’ Apprenticeship Programme: Aoibh Carroll, Jay Sempey, and Nicole Dallat.

The apprenticeship, spanning two years, offers hands-on experience and qualifications within the skilled fire service at the airport.

The ‘High Flyers’ programme aims to address youth unemployment in Northern Ireland and has been well-received, indicating a strong interest in specialized training and job opportunities in the region.

This dynamic programme provides a pathway for local talent to excel in their careers, enabling individuals to enhance their skills and build on their strengths for a fulfilling professional journey.

Paddy Hughes, Airport Fire Service Manager at Belfast City Airport, said: “Now in its eleventh year, High Flyers has gone from strength to strength, with 100pc of our apprentice firefighters progressing to full time employment. We had a record number of applications this year, all of an exceptionally high calibre, however, Aoibh, Jay and Nicole stood out as remarkable candidates. We look forward to working alongside these talented young people and helping them fulfil their ambitions to become fully qualified firefighters.”
