Belfast City & Derry airports still behind pre-pandemic levels

The London based CAA reports that airports in Belfast and Derry are still falling short of 2019 passenger levels, based on figures for the first six months of the year.

The two airports in Belfast and City of Derry saw a 9.8pc increase in passenger traffic in Q2 2024 compared to Q2 2023, though this growth rate has slowed from over 25pc in Q1 2024.

Belfast International was the only airport to report a passenger growth of 2.9pc compared to Q2 2019, while Belfast City and City of Derry experienced declines of 7.3pc and 9.2pc respectively from their pre-pandemic levels.

City of Derry recorded a positive increase of 7.9pc compared to Q2 2023, and aims to boost annual traffic through new easyJet services to Edinburgh and Liverpool.
