A statement from the Chinese Ministry of Commerce asserts that US tariffs have significantly harmed both Chinese airlines and Boeing, and caused instability in the global industrial chain and supply chain.

Following a 145pc tariff imposed by the US on Chinese imports, China retaliated by placing a 125pc tariff on US imports, affecting trade and investment activities.

Deliveries of Boeing aircraft to Chinese airlines have ceased as a result of the ongoing trade dispute, with some aircraft in China being returned to the US. Airlines have expressed interest in taking Juan the cancelled Chinese orders.

Boeing’s order book shows 14 Chinese airlines have 137 aircraft on order with Boeing, with plans for approximately 50 deliveries to Chinese customers in 2025.
