The United States Senate has confirmed Bryan Bedford as the new FAA administrator with a vote of 53 to 43. Congress allocated $12.5bn to the FAA to support necessary improvements.

Mr Bedford has extensive experience in the airline industry, including leadership at Republic Airways.

Mr Bedford has faced criticism for his stance on pilot training requirements, previously opposing the 1,500 training hours standard. Senator Chuck Schumer expressed concerns over Bedford prioritising airline profits over passenger safety.

Sean Duffy shared: “the $12.5bn is a down payment” for necessary upgrades.”
