China Eastern Airlines inaugurated its new route between Shanghai and Copenhagen, marking the first time the airline flies to the Danish capital.
The airline currently operates three weekly flights, which will increase to four from September 2025. The service uses two-class Airbus A330-200 aircraft with lie-flat business class seats in a 2-2-2 configuration and 2-4-2 economy class layout.
The inaugural flight was celebrated with speeches from representatives of China Eastern, the Chinese Embassy, and Copenhagen Airport executives.
Copenhagen Airport commented that the new route enhances tourism and commercial ties and provides passenger access to an extensive network of over 200 destinations.
A written statement from Copenhagen Airport shared, “We’re happy to see Copenhagen reconnected with the vibrant city of Shanghai. This new route strengthens tourism and commercial ties and offers passengers seamless access to China Eastern’s extensive network. Travelers can connect further into Europe and beyond via SAS from Copenhagen. The inaugural flight was celebrated at the gate with speeches from our representatives. China Eastern continues to quickly develop its intercontinental network.”
