Florian Guillermet, the executive director of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency, has said that recent claims from COMAC regarding the certification of its C919 aircraft in 2025 are incorrect.

Guillermet shared, “As we informed them officially, the C919 cannot be certified in 2025,” and indicated that certification is expected within three to six years.

The EASA has collaborated with COMAC for several years, but the company has yet to formally apply for certification of the C919.

The certification process will require validating the aircraft’s airframe and its components, alongside conducting test flights.

Guillermet expressed confidence in COMAC’s commitment, sharing, “I have no doubt that it will succeed,.”
