Malgorzata Pajak, a 43-year-old chef, pleaded guilty to shoplifting three bottles of wine worth €45 from a shop at Dublin Airport.
Pajak had a difficult relationship with alcohol and had combined alcohol with medication while being a nervous flyer.
She could not remember why she took the wine and expressed remorse for her actions.
Judge Treasa Kelly adjourned the case and offered to leave Pajak without a conviction if she made a €100 charity donation to Merchant’s Quay Ireland.
Pajak, who had no previous convictions, had been in Ireland for 17 years and was originally from Poland.
Her solicitor explained that she had been sober since the incident and had been flying back to Poland for treatment to address her issues with alcohol.
