Thanks to recent snowfall and cold temperatures, European resorts have brought forward openings for this season.
Verbier, Alpe d’Huez, Cervinia and Val Senales have all brought forward their openings. Courcheval is running a special pre-opening day of lift access thanks to all the new snow.
In Norway the Liliehammer area, Hemsedal, Trysil and Geilo are all opening this weekend. Tignes was forced to close for the day Thrusday due to inclement weather.
The Finnish resort Ruka has opened with limited skiing on offer.
There was good skiing across Austria on Thursday although visibility was somewhat limited, with more snow on the way. Kaprun and Neustift are expected to receive around 10-15cm on Friday 11th.
Irish ski operators have 20pc more capacity on offer for winter 2016-7.
