Delta and American Express have reintroduced metal credit cards made from parts of retired Boeing 747 aircraft, featuring a cloud-white colour scheme inspired by clouds and details of the aircraft’s history.
The limited edition cards are available for new and existing US-based Delta SkyMiles Reserve and Reserve Business cardholders until June 5th, constructed from 33pc metal from two retired Delta jumbos, with information on tail numbers, first and last flights, and miles flown.
This collaboration marks the second time the companies have launched credit cards from retired aircraft, with the previous design from 2022 using 25pc metal from Delta Ship #6307, following a year of research and development.
The annual fee for the cards is $650, with benefits including a companion certificate, Delta Sky Club and Centurion lounge access.
Prashant Sharma, VP of loyalty at Delta Air Lines, said: “at Delta, innovation and experience are at the core of everything we do. Each card carries the legacy of countless journeys and embodies the spirit of exploration that drives our customers and all of us at Delta. When combined with the recently upgraded benefits, these cards provide a nod to our storied past and symbolise the elevated experiences our customers can expect in their future travels.”
