
A collision occurred between Japan Airlines Boeing 787-9 JA868J and Delta Airlines Boeing 737 N3767 at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport during taxiing on Wednesday morning at approximately 10:40 a.m.
According to Delta spokesperson Samantha Moore Facteau, the Delta 737 preparing for a flight to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico was awaiting deicing when the wingtip of the JAL aircraft struck its tail. The Delta aircraft, operating as flight DL1921 to Puerto Vallarta, had 142 passengers on board, who were later transferred to another aircraft to continue their journey.
Japan Airlines Flight JL68, arriving from Narita International Airport, transported 172 passengers and 13 crew members and was impacted during taxiing. Outbound JAL flight JL67 to Tokyo Narita was cancelled.
The Federal Aviation Administration will conduct an investigation into the incident, which resulted in the temporary pause of some flights at the airport, with no reported injuries.
