FASTEST growing airport in Ireland: Derry airport passenger numbers UP by 23pc in June to 21,742

Derry airport passenger numbers for June were 21,742, up 22.6pc on 2025 and 28.8pc on pre-pandemic. Rolling annual was 237,114,, up 13.8pc on the twelve months to May 2025. The figures for the first six months of 2026 were 120,151, up 16.3pc on the first six months of 2025 and 28.9pc ahead of pre-pandemic. 

It follows growth rates of 16pc in May, 23.3pc in April, 20.6pc in March, 6.5pc in February and 7.7pc in January.

The City of Derry Airport is preparing for the launch of a new twice-daily subsidized PSO flight route to Dublin expected to begin in October 2026, alongside ongoing infrastructure improvements like a baggage handling extension and a public consultation for a renewed London route.

Planning has advanced for a small-scale terminal extension dedicated to improving baggage handling capacities. Recent interior and exterior upgrades, covering dining spaces, departure/arrival zones, and security layouts, have optimized passenger flow while keeping the regional hub fully functional
