Dingle hosts ‘Double’ international regenerative tourism conference

The ‘Double’ International Regenerative Tourism Conference and the Tourism and Hospitality Research in Ireland Conference (THRIC) drew 185 delegates to the Skelling Hotel in Dingle 

The conference was opened by Aisling Ward who told delegates that a new business model for tourism development needs to emerge.

The second day of the conference featured the re-launch of the THRIC – Tourism and Hospitality Research in Ireland Conference, which previously ran for 15 successful editions across Ireland from 2005 – 2019, before being paused as a result of the global pandemic in 2020. Keynote speakers were:

  • Karen Weekes specializes in coping tools for business, sport, and life. Her PhD focused on elite endurance athletes, and she has experience in ultra-endurance expeditions.
  • Duncan Stewart is an award-winning architect and television producer who has been a leading Irish advocate for environmental issues for over 40 years. He is a leading speaker on climate change, biodiversity, the circular economy, and renewable energy.
