
Dubai passport records show that 419,047 passengers were processed through the airports during unprecedented rains from April 15 to 17.
The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai said airports handled 195,803 passengers on April 15, 133,801 on April 16, and 74,406 on April 17.
Emirates was forced to cancel nearly 400 flights and delay many more. Yesterday the airline said that schedules were back to normal for the first time since the floods.
The airline secured 12,000 hotel rooms to accommodate disrupted customers, issued 250,000 meal vouchers supplied quantities of drinking water, blankets, and other amenities.
Tim Clark, President of Emirates aid: “flooded roads impeded the ability of our customers, pilots, cabin crew, and airport employees to reach the airport, and also the movement of essential supplies like meals and other flight amenities.”
