Dublin Airport’s radio ad, voiced by Marty Whelan, was found to breach advertising rules regarding claims of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
The Advertising Standards Authority of Ireland (ASAI) upheld a complaint stating that the average listener could not recognise that flight emissions were excluded from the claims made by the airport.
MEP Lynn Boylan filed the complaint, questioning the transparency of emissions reporting in public advertisements. The airport’s emissions from flights constitute a substantial part of its overall carbon footprint, raising concerns about misleading advertising.
Lynn Boylan shared “The average listener would not realise the airport was excluding flight emissions from its claims.”
