Dublin Airport recorded a historic month with 3.46m passengers in August, propelling total passenger numbers in 2024 to 22.7m, exceeding trends from 2023 by 5.5pc.

Cork Airport emerged as the fastest growing airport in Ireland, welcoming over 340,000 passengers in August, a 10pc increase from the previous year, and is on track to surpass threem passengers this year.

The daa is advocating for quicker planning processes and better infrastructure coordination to address the outdated 32m passenger cap at Dublin Airport, which it forecasts will be exceeded in 2024.

The daa has submitted a request to increase Dublin Airport’s passenger cap to 40m and plans to invest over €400m in sustainability measures as part of its Infrastructure Application.
