EasyGroup, the private investment vehicle of EasyJet founder Stelios Haji-Ioannou, has filed a lawsuit in the High Court claiming trademark infringement against ER Travel Ltd, an Irish-registered company located in Swords, Co Dublin.

EasyGroup is seeking injunctions to stop ER from providing vehicle-hire services under the names Easirent or Easirent Car Hire. They are also aiming to prevent the use of website names such as easirent.ie, easirentcampervanhire.com, and easirentvans.com.

In addition to injunctions, EasyGroup is seeking damages and the forfeiture of all infringing materials or articles. ER Travel Ltd denies the allegations, and the case has been adjourned for a week to allow ER to provide a response.

According to an affidavit, EasyGroup owns and operates various businesses using the “easy” branding, such as EasyJet, EasyCar, and EasyHotel. The alleged infringing signs have been used on social media accounts, and Easirent.ie offers vehicle hire at Cork, Dublin, and Shannon airports. The lawsuit was filed after the defendant did not respond to requests to cease the alleged infringement.
