A starling trapped in Dublin Airport’s Terminal 1 since March 8, affectionately named Charlie after Charlie Bird, has been successfully rescued and is being returned to the wild.

Dublin Airport engaged the public in choosing a name for the terminal bird, with Charlie being selected over other options in a poll conducted by the airport’s social media account and eventually carried out of Terminal 1 by a staff member.

Concerns about the bird’s well-being in the busy airport environment were addressed by airport officials, highlighting the challenges of moving a small, fast-moving bird like a starling out of a vast and bustling building and reassuring the public that the bird was being cared for and prepared for a safe release back into the wild.
