Hilton plans to rebrand the existing City Hotel in Derry as the DoubleTree by Hilton Derry, marking its third DoubleTree property in Ireland, with refurbishment scheduled for 2025.

The 158-room hotel will feature amenities such as a bar and restaurant, ballroom, seven meeting rooms, onsite parking, and a wellness club with a swimming pool.

Conveniently located on the west bank of the River Foyle, the hotel will be close to Quayside Shopping Centre and approximately 15 minutes from Derry rail station.

This expansion follows Hilton’s strategy to grow its presence in Ireland, with over 680 DoubleTree properties worldwide since its first European opening in 2008, and includes plans for the Tapestry Collection brand debuting in Ireland next year, with the opening of The Marcus Hotel Portrush, Tapestry Collection by Hilton.

Graham Dodd, London based MD of development for Hilton, said: “Our debut in the city marks a significant step in Hilton’s further expansion across Ireland. With rising tourism demand in the region, we’re excited to be working closely with Focus Hotels to introduce the warm hospitality that DoubleTree by Hilton is known for globally, enhancing the city’s appeal as a must-visit destination for domestic and international travellers alike.”
