  • Irish hotel investment totalled €82.75m in H1 2026.
  • The figure compares with €340m in the same period of 2025.
  • No Dublin hotels changed hands in the first half.
  • The Knightsbrook Hotel in Trim sold for €25m.
  • A proposed €95m sale of two Dublin airport hotels is expected in H2.

Investment in Irish hotels has dropped markedly in the first six months of 2026 with seven sales totalling €82.75m compared with a record €340m in the same period of 2025. A Fáilte Ireland report attributes the decline to fewer large deals. No Dublin hotels changed hands and only two sales exceeded €20m. The biggest transaction was the Knightsbrook Hotel in Trim, Co Meath sold for €25m.

The drop was largely driven by a lack of major high-value asset sales particularly in Dublin where no hotels changed hands in the first half. Only two hotel sales valued over €20m were recorded between January and June 2026 compared with five such sales in the first half of 2025. The record figures in 2025 hit roughly €1.6bn overall or €457m excluding major group sales like Dalata creating a tough comparative baseline for 2026.

Positive sentiment is expected to support steadier activity in the second half of the year including a proposed €95m sale of two Dublin hotels near the airport. The market report noted the decline in transaction volume. The first half saw seven transactions. The largest deal was the Knightsbrook Hotel.
