The International Air Transport Association (IATA) reported strong annual growth in global air cargo demand for July 2024, with a 13.6pc increase in cargo tonne-kilometers (CTKs).

Capacity, measured in available cargo tonne-kilometers (ACTKs), increased by 8.3pc compared to July 2023, driven by growth in international belly capacity and freighter capacity.

Several factors in the operating environment were noted, including expansion in global manufacturing output, stable inflation rates in major economies, and a slight increase in global cross-border trade.

Regional performance highlights include Asia-Pacific airlines leading in demand growth with 17.6pc, followed by European carriers with 13.7pc demand growth, and Middle Eastern carriers with 14.7pc demand growth in July 2024.
