IATA has unveiled the Integrated Sustainability Programme at the World Sustainability Symposium in Hong Kong, offering airlines a certification framework built on IEnvA.
The programme covers four modules: environmental management, sustainable procurement, social responsibility, and sustainability performance, with options for individual or full certification on a 2-year cycle. Existing IEnvA-certified airlines integrate into ISP and can add modules, incorporating standards like ISO14001 for environmental footprint assessment.
Air New Zealand and EVA Air became the first carriers to earn Sustainable Procurement certification under ISP. The programme will expand to ground handlers, airports, and others as standards evolve with industry input.
Marie Owens Thomsen shared “The comprehensive ISP certification programme validates that an airline is managing its sustainability efforts at the highest level and in the broadest context.”
Kiri Hannifin shared “As New Zealand’s national airline, we’ve always had a responsibility to help our people and communities thrive.”
Jason Liu shared “Earning this certification marks a key milestone in EVA Air’s sustainability journey.”
