Ryanair will not introduce any kind of loyalty or frequent-flyer scheme, Michael O’Leary has told The English Independent that travellers seeking a loyalty scheme should instead buy a dog”

Michael O’Leary said: “If you want something loyal, buy a dog. If you want the lowest air fares in Europe, fly Ryanair. I don’t understand why, if you’re already getting the lowest fares in Europe and therefore you’re already benefiting, saving money every time you fly with us, why do we need loyalty scheme? Ryanair fares are so low that the more passengers fly, the more they save.”

EasyJet Plus charges £170 a year for membership. Benefits include a large cabin bag and seat selection. Wizz Air charges €249  a year for a Privilege Pass as well as a paid-for discount club. Ryanair has not plans to reintroduce a frequent flier bonus scheme, which, alongside business class, was offered by the airline prior to Mr O’Leary’s appointment as CEO in 1994.
