ITA Airways plans to partially revive the Alitalia brand, adopting a new tagline “inspired by Alitalia” to honor its legacy in air transport and its representation of Italian culture.

The airline’s visual identity will include references to Alitalia, with the historic logo displayed at select locations starting at the end of the year.

ITA Airways reported strong financial results for the first half of 2024, with revenues of €1.4bn and a significant increase in passengers, totaling 8.3m, marking a 26pc rise compared to the previous year.

The Lufthansa Group has received approval for a 41pc acquisition of ITA Airways, solidifying its strategic growth, while ITA recently opened a new office in Milan to emphasize the importance of the city and Linate Airport in its operations.

Commenting on the news Antonino Turicchi, chairman of ITA Airways, shared: “We proudly presented the project to enhance the Alitalia brand, which will complement our identity logo ‘ITA Airways’ to reinforce its values of excellence in air transport, which are recognized worldwide”. The figures from the half-year report approved today confirm the growth process already underway since last year, with results better than the first six months of 2023.We are also pleased to have inaugurated our new offices in Milan, which highlight the great importance the Company places on the city and Linate Airport, where we will renovate our lounge next year.”
