ITA Airways expanded its fleet with the arrival of its 14th Irish registered Airbus A220-300, EI-HHW MSN 55358, routing directly from Montréal-Mirabel to Rome Fiumicino on 6 June 2025.
The A220-300 offers a 25pc reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions per passenger compared to its predecessor.
The A220 operates with up to 50pc sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), with Airbus aiming for all aircraft to handle up to 100pc SAF by 2030 under the ICAO-approved CORSIA Sustainability Certification Scheme. The SAF received at Airbus in Mirabel achieves an 85pc reduction in greenhouse gas emissions over its lifecycle compared to fossil fuel.
The addition enhances ITA Airways’ operational efficiency and environmental performance.
