A new bridge over the River Shannon has officially opened linking the towns of Killaloe in Co Clare and Ballina in Co Tipperary.
Named after Brian Boru, High King of Ireland, the bridge features ten viewing platforms across its five piers.
The bridge measures 207 metres in length and is part of a larger project that includes a bypass and an upgraded regional road.
Estimated costs for the entire 6.2km scheme reached €88m. The largest crawler crane in Ireland was utilised for construction.
