A new survey has found that most people living near Dublin Airport, including those under flight paths, support further development of the facility because of its economic benefits. Residents view the airport as important for the local economy and tourism. Concerns remain over carbon emissions, air quality and noise.

Independent polling tracked by the Irish Independent and RED C shows 86pc of Fingal residents support further development, while 84pc agree the airport fuels regional economic development and local jobs. Nearly 77pc of surveyed local residents believe the airport does more good than harm in the community.

Residents continue to express concern regarding carbon emissions, air quality and nighttime noise pollution. In areas like St Margaret’s and Lusk, there remains pushback against altered flight paths resulting from the North Runway expansion. Local backing depends on the operator adhering to a good neighbour policy including accelerated funding for the Voluntary Dwelling Purchase Scheme and expanded noise insulation programmes.
