London’s Competition and Markets Authority has concluded consultations on commitments from Aer Lingus, American Airlines, British Airways, Finnair and Iberia regarding the Atlantic Joint Business Agreement.

Investigations focus on whether the agreement could hinder competition on key routes from London Heathrow to Boston, Chicago O’Hare, Dallas/Fort Worth, and Miami International.

The Atlantic Joint Business Agreement permits airlines to work together on transatlantic flights, including revenue sharing and coordinating routes and distribution.

To satisfy regulatory concerns, American and British Airways have proposed making slot pairs available to competitors and ensuring a minimum number of point-to-point passengers on the Dallas route.

The CMA plans to accept these commitments unless counterarguments arise from stakeholders, following the closure of the consultation period on April 23.
