The move formed part of efforts to encourage sustainable surface access. The airport has operated the Luton Airport Express rail link and DART people mover. The journey planner allowed passengers to input starting points, travel dates and connection preferences. Passengers could filter for rail or coaches to calculate optimal travel times.

The €2.30 coach tickets applied to 49 direct daily services connecting the airport to nine key London pickup locations including Victoria, Baker Street and Paddington. The Luton Airport Express cut travel time from London St Pancras International to Luton Airport Parkway to roughly 30 minutes. Passengers transferred onto the electric DART people mover.
