Start your tour at Plaza de Alfonso II El Casto in the historic centre where the Cathedral of San Salvador stands and marks the site linked to early Asturian kings. Visitors have walked these streets for centuries and the area has retained medieval structures and later buildings that reflect the development of the city.
The route proceeds through squares such as Plaza de la Constitución where the Town Hall and the church of San Isidoro El Real stand close together. Walkers continue to Plaza del Fontán with its traditional market atmosphere and surrounding historic houses before they pass narrow streets that lead towards other squares including Porlier. The path allows views of the cathedral facade and nearby monuments tied to the origins of the city and the Camino de Santiago.
The short circuit covers around 1.4 kilometres and returns walkers towards the starting area or nearby transport links after they pass through the compact old town.
