Qatar Airways has inaugurated flights to Caracas and Bogotá, becoming the first Gulf carrier to serve Venezuela and giving northern South America a new route to the Middle East through Doha. The twice-weekly Boeing 777-200LR service launched on 4 November 2026 after delays from July and September. The two Latin American capitals bring Qatar’s Americas network to 17 destinations.

El Dorado Airport’s elevation of more than 8,300 feet above sea level prevents the airline from operating nonstop flights to Doha. The shorter flight to Caracas lets Qatar carry less fuel out of Colombia and refuel near sea level for the long return to Doha. The regular Wednesday and Sunday timetable has QR783 leaving Doha at 7:35am and reaching Bogotá at 4:25pm before continuing to Caracas.

The Boeing 777-200LR operating the route is equipped with 42 Qsuite business-class seats and 230 economy seats. Qatar’s arrival in Caracas follows Maiquetía Airport’s partial reopening on 1 September after earthquakes damaged its infrastructure. LATAM plans to begin nonstop Santiago-Caracas flights on 3 January, while United’s planned return from Houston is scheduled for 12 January.

Qatar Airways shared “The twice-weekly Boeing 777-200LR service has been long overdue.”
