Royal Caribbean is looking to hire around 10,000 workers in 2024 to keep up with record cruise demand, with a majority of new hires planned for the sea-based workforce for their cruise ships and private destinations.
The company’s sea-based workforce at the end of 2023 totalled about 88,700 employees, down 6pc from the previous year, while the land-based workforce including private destinations consisted of about 9,500 full-time employees, up 17pc.
There has been an increased demand for workers from various regions around the world, with Royal Caribbean approaching countries such as the British Virgin Islands, Gambia, and Netherlands territory St. Maarten for recruitment.
Tourism boards and port operators are working to assist in providing additional workers and to educate potential candidates about careers at sea to meet the growing industry demand for labour.
